Weekend finds in Hancock Maryland

Well, it's been a while since I've posted but it's not because I haven't been thrifting :D
Sometimes life just gets in the way I guess!! Last weekend I drove to Maryland with my dad to take my Aunt home after a very lovely visit. Of course, in addition to quality time with my dad, I also get to visit an antique mall! I found some great stuff. While they're all items I already have, they are in better condition than the ones I already have. Guess what that means? Craigslist. Oh yes. Creepy as all hell Craigslist haha!!  If they don't sell, I won't be sad.... because they're awesome additions to the every day use pile!!!  Hope everyone found some goodies of their own this weekend!

Accidental collection

Have you ever realized you've began a collection by accident? I have done this twice. First it was owls. One day, I took a step back and realized they're everywhere. Kitchen, bedroom & living room.  Owls of all kinds.... Pictures, vases, salt n peppers, cookie jar, figurines.... I have it all.

Anyway, this time I accidentally started a milk glass collection. I guess it all began when we started collecting vases for the wedding. I've always loved milk glass but since I already have a pretty huge Pyrex collection I've never picked up any at the thrifts.  My mom gave me her small Fenton vase when she moved so that kept me happy.  Somehow, that all changed and now this is happening in my kitchen. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE IT.... but that's the problem!! We live in a small apartment, remember?  Now I just have to be extremely selective from the very beginning. I made the mistake of buying every piece of Pyrex I found when I first began collecting and well, you know how that turned out. So here's my milk glass collection. Fenton Hobnail at its finest with a touch of West Moreland glass. I'm trying to make sure the pieces I collect are useful and/or interesting {hello, swan} So far so good! Wish me luck .... I'll need it!

A touch of spring

Today is the first day in a while that the weather is acceptable. Although tomorrow it's going to get cold again {wtf!} It's officially spring as of last Thursday so WHY the snow? WHYYYY?!  Well, since spring isn't happening outside, I decided to bring it inside :)

Don't mind the crappy iPhone photo orLouie's ball... his toys are everywhere!!
This display is my favorite so far. I love brights :)

Christmas time is here

I just wanted to post a quick update! It's Christmas Eve Eve & I have tons to do but I did find some time this weekend to spoil myself :D On Friday, my very generous boss gave me the day off so I took advantage & made the trip over to Haddon Heights for a little antique adventure. I could have gone WAY CRAZY but I kept it together!! I walked away with a gooseberry pyrex refrigerator set {been searching forever for one at a scent price}, a Pyrex scroll promo bowl that was a steal and a little baby vintage ceramic Christmas tree that lights up! All in all, I did pretty well!

Just when I thought I wasn't going to buy any more vintage Pyrex

This happens....

I can never say no to pink Pyrex at a reasonable price. This is my 3rd pink gooseberry 441 and I'm proud of it! haha! We actually use 401s and 441s quite a bit at our house so this purchase makes sense. The 441s are great for soup :). As for the 474, I actually don't have this piece.... so I had to buy it, right?  The fiancĂ© was there & gave me the nod so all is well.  Now I'm only a 475 away from a complete pink gooseberry collection!

Now onto the black & white gooseberry 442.... I picked it up because I liked it & then we found a  yellow & black gooseberry.... Which was also a 442. I was so confused. Apparently this bowl is not a common piece {and NO it's not DWD!}. It's part of a promo set that was all black& white!!  Must.find.444!!!

And the last 2 Pyrex pieces? Butterfly gold square baker & loaf pan.... Because who doesn't love a utility dish!?

And finally, I found a Kenmore 1956 fine china platter with turquoise & grey flowers & a silver rim. Swoon.

Not pictured is a lovely horizon blue 444 I found today to complete my set. Today was a success I'd say! Now off to rearrange :X
